The Container Owners Association was established in November 2004 as an international organisation representing the common interests of all owners of freight containers. The principle aims of the COA are to provide global expertise, to promote common standards and to facilitate international lobbying.

Established in 1998, the International Tank Container Organisation represents the international tank container industry to the public and to governmental bodies, with the aim of promoting the industry with around 150 members worldwide. ITCO’s principle focus is on safety, regulatory, technical and environmental issues. Its mission is to represent tank containers as a safe, cost-efficient and flexible means of transport.
The CTIA has been developed in response to growing demands from the container industry to ensure compliance with safety, regulatory and environmental developments. Its membership profile is traders (companies that buy and sell containers), resellers (companies that buy and sell containers to the retail market) and container innovators (modular building applications for concepts in housing, hotels, restaurants, offices and other temporary facilities.
